Snoqualmie WA Family Photographer | Adventure Photography at Gold Creek Pond | Snoqualmie Pass

This past weekend, I took my family up to Gold Creek Pond near Snoqualmie Pass for a bit of adventure and location scouting. Gold Creek Pond is part of a long list of locations that I absolutely have to explore as possible locations for family and wedding photography sessions and they are all within about 30 minutes of where I live!  And my list grows longer every day. Seriously, it absolutely blows me away how gorgeous the natural beauty is here! I could photograph a family or a wedding couple at a new location every day of the year and still not even come close to exhausting the possibilities, especially if they are up for a little adventure photography session! 😉 In every direction, trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, green…

Getting there was mostly easy… It’s just a 30 minute drive to Snoqualmie Pass from my home in Snoqualmie. (fyi, Snoqualmie the town and Snoqualmie Pass are different entities, separated by about 25 miles!) We passed the ski areas and saw people still skiing even though the chair lifts were no longer running. The dirt road leading to Gold Creek Pond was still covered with snow, so we had to hike the remaining 3/4 of a mile or so on foot. When you emerge from the forest into the clearing by the pond, it really is a breathtaking sight. There is also a path around the pond, but I couldn’t convince my wife and daughter to go any farther this time, but we’ll be back. If you’re up for an adventure photograph session, this is a spectacular place. June – October, it should be easily accessible too. Families with older kids or pre-wedding couples could make the trip any time of year, even in the winter with all the snow!

I snapped a few images of my daughter while we were there and definitely plan to bring my family back here to explore further – when the road opens, that is!
