Among the most famous waterfalls in all of the Pacific Northwest, Snoqualmie Falls cascades 268 feet over granite cliffs to the valley below. It is the second most visited natural landmark in Washington (after Mount Rainier), but to truly appreciate the splendor of Snoqualmie Falls, you need to see it from the bottom. And so, on a warm October day, towards the end of an unprecedented record-breaking drought (4 months without measurable rain), I met up with these two for a trek in to the base of the falls for some pre-wedding photographs. I’ve been in there many times and I’ve never seen the water level so low, but it was definitely interesting walking on what is normally the riverbed!
With their wedding the next day, we didn’t have to worry about making it back in time for the reception, so we hiked in for a short pre-wedding shoot and had a great time climbing on rocks and exploring the area. These two are so incredibly cute together and after having already photographed their engagement session the month before, it was easy to get right back into that rhythm. And with the Salish Lodge only a short drive away, they were back at the hotel in no time, ready to relax before their wedding the next day.
Thank you both for the wonderful mini-adventure to the lower falls! I had an incredible time with you and can’t wait to show some images from your beautiful wedding soon (coming in my next post)! Enjoy your first sneak peek and congratulations!!!
