I love going to new places for adventure photoshoots, so when this outstanding Mount Si senior suggested that we visit an active ghost town on the eastern edge of the Cascades, I was all in! It was awesome! As soon as we started exploring some of the abandoned structures, I could tell she was totally in her element! And that’s really what it’s all about. Every senior is unique with their own set of interests and so when it comes to choosing a location, we try to find something that speaks to who they are and allows them to shine, even if it means driving an hour or two away. When I met with this senior and her Mom a few weeks before the session, she said she was very interested in spaces where people once were, but have since left or abandoned, so this turned out to be perfect! Most ghost towns nowadays are either completely leveled with little but foundation remaining, or are boarded and fenced up, completely off limits to the public. But this particular “active ghost town” is actually now part of a small park (and open to the public) within the tiny town, paying tribute to a small slice of the town’s history.
We wandered around the area and found some interesting abandoned structures, tools, and old broken down machinery. It was so much fun to explore, peek through windows, and wonder about what some of the things we saw might have been used for so many years before. Even though we didn’t hike far at all, it was still quite the adventure, exploring the mysterious and abandoned past of this almost off-the-grid rural mountain community.
Thank you so much for the incredible adventure senior session! It was such a pleasure meeting you and your family! Enjoy a peek at a few of the many highlights and congratulations Class of 2023!!!
