Crystal Mountain wedding by Seattle wedding photographer James Thomas Long Photography

Here in the Pacific Northwest, the first weekend in August is typically the driest of the year, with only one instance of measurable rain since 1985 on August 1. in other words, if you are planning a wedding, that weekend is your safest bet as far as getting warm, dry weather is concerned. But, this year, nature decided to completely buck the trends and sent rain, wind, thick fog, and cool temperatures our way. But then as if on cue, just as the wedding ceremony was about to begin, an opening in the fog appeared. It was small at first, just a tiny window through the grey, but soon phones were out as everyone hurried to admire the parting of the clouds and capture an image of the sky unfolding before us. And as the opening grew, suddenly trees and mountains in the distance emerged out of the grey abyss. And the wedding ceremony began.

These two met as undergrads at MIT studying computer science and have been together ever since. They enjoy skiing, especially Crystal Mountain, so with the breathtaking views at the summit, Crystal was easily a no brainer for their wedding location! And despite the early fog, it certainly didn’t disappoint! We had gorgeous views opening up and saw part of Mount Rainier poking through the clouds as well. Their families came from far and wide to celebrate with them and got to see a good taste of the beautiful Cascade Mountains from 7000 feet above sea level! Vivian’s dress was absolutely gorgeous an these two looked stunning up there as they exchanged vows and celebrated their wedding day. I loved her flowers too – such great combinations of colors in them!

Thank you both for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful wedding! It was truly an honor to work with you for your adventure engagement session at Mount Rainier and for your wedding as well. You make such a lovely couple and I wish you many many years of happiness together as husband and wife! Congratulations and enjoy a peak at a few of the many highlights from yoru wedding day!
