I met up with this lovely couple for their snow engagement session on a chilly mid-November afternoon. Even though the sun was shining, it was still a bit cold, especially in the shade and definitely after the sun went behind the mountains! We hiked around the area in the snow and and had an amazing time exploring this beautiful place. Along the shoreline where the sun had melted the snow away was really soft dirt (and mud), which created quite a contrast to the crunchy, crusty frozen snow. But hey, once we get into fall, mud is pretty much ubiquitous around here, so… And the stumps!!! There were some absolutely massive stumps in a few spots, which looked so incredibly cool against the mountains and lake in the background! And, we were lucky because there was only an occasional gentle breeze, giving us some really great reflections on the water. I loved capturing these two getting playful together and they can both also totally rock a more serious look too!
I always tell my clients to bring along warm attire whenever possible for a shoot like this, and I’m glad that both of them did! Their jackets served the dual purpose of not only keeping them warm, but they also looked good in photographs! A photographable jacket is one of those things that is pretty much essential for a winter or snow session because in freezing temperatures, nobody can wear a sleeveless dress and not get cold quickly! And she brought along an absolutely beautiful red dress, so we mixed it up a bit by alternating with her jacket at the end so she didn’t get too cold.
They are getting married at the Newcastle Golf Club this summer, with views overlooking Bellevue and Seattle, so this wintry mountain shoot will be a nice companion to their summer wedding!
Congratulations you two! I had an incredible time with you out there and you both looked absolutely amazing! I’m so excited for your wedding! Enjoy a sneak peek at a few of the highlights and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
