Winter elopements here in the Pacific Northwest can be cold and wet, but also beautifully moody! And when you’ve already made plans and nature decides to throw some wind and rain at you, sometimes you just have to go for it! Embrace the wild weather and all of its chaos and let it make your day even more memorable. And that’s exactly what we did for this lovely couple last weekend. The forecast kept promising high winds and rain that afternoon, but, as is so often the case around here, the forecasters got it wrong. We definitely had some wind gusting at times, but the rain never really materialized other than a few sprinkles here and there. So we ended up with beautiful moody grey skies (my favorite kind of sky by far!) and some wind that did amazing things with her dress and veil too!

I met up with this lovely couple and their families on a very, very, rare deserted day at Rattlesnake Lake (I think the weather forecast scared everyone off!). They wanted some images with their families together to celebrate their elopement. It was one of those “get your coats off and brace for the wind and then quickly put them back on” kind of days, but we still had a great time. It wasn’t really very cold at all, but that wind!!! At the end, I got some time to capture these two alone for a few minutes among the trees and also out by the lake. She changed into her dress with the train for this part of our photoshoot and it was absolutely stunning! With a few directions and prompts, these two were in the groove in no time – it was awesome! They totally rocked it and were able to get back to the Salish Lodge (without getting soaked!) and have a private dinner and a marriage certificate signing with their families (instead of a ceremony) to top off the day.

Thank you both (and your families!) for the amazing session! Congratulations to both of you and enjoy a peak at a few of the highlights from your couple session!
