What an awesome afternoon this was! Conner reached out to me a few days before he was planning to propose to his girlfriend of 3 years. They were taking a trip to Seattle together from the Tri Cities and he wanted to find a beautiful forest with easy access and plenty of privacy too to have a surprise proposal for her, and have it beautifully captured too! 🙂 His girlfriend (now fiance!) really loves waterfalls too, so I helped Conner find the perfect location and plan his surprise proposal. And well, suffice to say, it was absolutely beautiful (you’ll see some of the sequence of the proposal once you scroll down a little ways – I loved her expressions of surprise and joy)!

Making sure to keep it a surprise isn’t always easy, especially since I couldn’t just hide in the trees. After all, a good hiding spot would mean that I would run the risk of missing the shot or ending up with a less ideal angle. So, instead, as the couple and a few of their friends approached the spot where he would propose, I was just off the trail photographing/pretending to photograph moss (or possibly some little critters). Once they passed me and proceeded about 25 more feet to reach the spot, Conner got down on one knee and proposed! She was totally surprised! And I was right there capturing it all! After he put the ring on her finger and everyone hugged, we had a little photoshoot/stroll to the nearby waterfall and these two just couldn’t stop smiling the whole time!
