I recently had the opportunity to photograph this amazing pair of acrobats for their engagement session near Snoqualmie Pass! Yes, acrobats!!! They both perform for a traveling circus and luckily, I was able to catch them during a time when they have a few weeks off. Having met during their training, they perform together and will be getting married next year. While we couldn’t setup their giant pole, I did get to photograph them doing a number of impressive acrobatic feats in some pretty beautiful locations. What really blew me away was how easy they made it all look. Seriously, wow!
We started off at the old mill park in Preston, right near Snoqualmie, and then headed up to Snoqualmie Pass from there. On top of being incredible strong and talented, Rachel and Nick are such a wonderfully sweet couple! We were laughing much of the time and even when it rained, they took it all in stride and we still managed to get the shots we were after. Actually, as soon as we arrived at Gold Creek Pond, the heavy rain began. Within minutes, we were the only ones there, but when it looked like it wasn’t going to stop soon, we decided to leave in search of drier locations. By chance, I saw a little bit of blue sky open up to the east just before getting back on the freeway. I pulled over at the next exit and even though the weather apps were all saying the rain wouldn’t end until it got dark, the blue sky to the east was getting larger. Normally, storms here come from the west, but this time, the dark thunder clouds were moving west and with each passing minute, the blue sky to the east was getting larger… We went back to Gold Creek Pond, arriving just as the rain stopped altogether and were rewarded with almost perfectly still water for reflections! It was AMAZING!!! I’m so glad we went back and decided to ignore the weather apps!
Thank you both for an amazing session and for persevering even when the weather didn’t cooperate! Enjoy the sneak peek at a few of the highlights!
This one is just…. awesome!!!! They look so relaxed – like they are just hangin’ out at the pond!I love the gorgeous greenery here! Sure, the rain can be annoying at times, but without it, we wouldn’t have this!We started out at lower elevation and it was sunny and warm – almost balmy to begin with!Wildflowers are everywhere here! And cue the rain…!
