It is always a treat to visit The Mountain. It’s ever-changing appearance never disappoints!

For this adventure family photography session, I met up with this lovely family of five on a hot summer evening at Mount Rainier, with the wildflowers still partially in bloom, and thankfully, the mosquitos having largely already run their course for the season. They were visiting from the East Coast and wanted something iconically memorable as the backdrop of their family photographs. I’m glad to say that we lucked out with clear skies and unobstructed views of The Mountain. It was absolutely gorgeous and I loved their outfits and color choices that worked well with all of the green scenery we had in the background. The trails were quite dusty, but we managed to come up with some creative ways to stay on trail and get some beautiful photographs in the process!

Mount Rainier National Park can be a tricky place for a family session, especially for families with very young children because we need to stay on the trails and paved areas at all times, which poses a challenge for especially active little ones. The beautiful meadows are so incredibly fragile and have such a limited growing season that any damage due to walking on them can take years to restore. So to preserve these beautiful places for all to enjoy, we need to do our part by staying on trails and setting good examples for others. Mount Rainier National Park really is a treasure and it is everyone’s responsibility who visits to help preserve, protect, and leave no trace.
