What a fun engagement session this was! We originally were going to hike to a nearby waterfall, but the trail is closed all summer for maintenance, so we explored other options. She’s a former National Park Ranger, including Mount Rainier National Park, so a hike somewhere in the mountains was pretty much a given! We met up at the trailhead and enjoyed the easy hike up to the lake where we saw a number of campsites, which was a bit unusual, but everyone was nice and one couple was even celebrating their anniversary, so they appreciated the engagement vibes we were giving off! It’s amazing how much there is to explore around here, even just off the I-90 corridor and with every new discovery, I realize how much I haven’t explored or even knew existed!

I do get asked quite a bit where the “best” places I’ve gone to are, but what I often love most is exploring new places I’ve never been. So when these two suggested a hike to a lake near Snoqualmie Pass for their engagement session that I had not tried yet, I was  super excited! And this lake certainly did not disappoint! I always research new locations to make sure there are openings in the tree cover to actually get photographs with the couple and the lake or view and ensure it has enough variety for us to explore and there were definitely some great finds at this location. These two were up for anything and I could tell they just felt so comfortable together out there. They both looked amazing! I loved their colors that really popped nicely against the darker, green and brown backgrounds we had. Their casual outfits of flannel shirts and jeans worked quite well too! And they make such a lovely, nice couple. It really was a pleasure to spend the evening with them, talking about all sorts of things for the hikes and then capturing them having fun together at the lake. We even got out the lanterns at the end for some blue hour magic as well!
