There is something incredibly romantic about getting absolutely soaking wet with the one you love, without a care in the world for how wet you are and how that pretty much sums up getting married on the first day of Spring in western WA. Add to that the spectacular beauty of Snoqualmie Falls when it’s really spilling out and the mossy, fern-covered rainforest wonderland that covers the western Cascade Mountain foothills and you’ve got the recipe for an absolutely unforgettable experience. Seriously, the ferns and mossy trees were spectacular, glistening with rain! And it is hard to imagine anything more beautifully dramatic than a gorgeous couple in a wedding gown and tuxedo huddled under an umbrella in the rain, with water cascading down Snoqualmie Falls behind them…! It was like something out of a fairytale.

After their beautiful wedding at the Salish Lodge the day before, I met up with this lovely couple for a short hike to the bottom of the falls. Things were still a bit wet from rain the day before, but the forecasted rain for that day had held off remarkably long and we were beginning to wonder if maybe we’d be able to get in there and out before things really got interesting. But once we really got going, the rain started to trickly in, intermittent and light at first, but then heavier as we got ready to pack up and head back into the forest. M & A were super chill about the rain and they looked absolutely incredible in each other’s arms up on the rock (thank you so much to the groom’s brother for his assistance in helping her get up and down from there)! She looked amazing with her wedding dress and veil!

With the rain coming down much harder, we made our way back up the muddy, slippery slope to the forest above and I was able to talk them into a few more images in the rainforest before heading to the cars. By that point, all of us were pretty much soaked completely, so what’s a little more water? The rainforest was absolutely gorgeous! Even before the Spring bloom, it was su lushly green, made all the more spectacular by the glistening water dripping off of everything, from the old tree stumps covered with moss and ferns to the plentiful cedar and fir trees with their trunks covered in moss, it was magical!

Thank you both for the amazing adventure! And thank you for braving the wild wetness of the Pacific Northwest with me and trusting that despite the downpour, the images would be amazing. They most certainly are! This is one I’ll definitely never forget! 🙂

Congratulations you two! Enjoy the sneak peek at a few of the many highlights from your post-wedding photoshoot at the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls!
