I’m excited to show a sneak peek from Kelly and Jon’s beautiful wedding at St. Joseph Parish in Seattle! With so many weddings being rescheduled for later dates, it has been a very quiet start to the season for wedding professionals, photographers of course included! But the fact that Kelly and Jon were able to still get married on their original date (July 25) and at their original venues, despite the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on is a small miracle in and of itself. To be safe and remain compliant, quite a few modifications had to be made, most notably the overall guest count had to be greatly reduced. But Kelly and Jon (and their close friends and family) took it all in stride and had an amazing time celebrating together. And let’s face it, at a time like this, I think we could all use a little something to celebrate!
And what a celebration it was! For starters, it was one of those comfortable blue-bird Pacific Northwest days – the kind of day that everyone here reflects on with fond nostalgia during the long, cool, wet winters (although I like those too!). The size of the church allowed for socially distant household groupings for the downsized group attending and for those that could not make it there in person, the ceremony was also live-streamed. And so, in a beautiful ceremony before a masked, socially distanced audience, in a beautiful church full of gorgeous stain-glass windows, Kelly and Jon were married. It may not have been the exact same wedding that they initially envisioned having, but it was real, it was beautiful, and it was theirs.
