I have never photographed a harpist before, so when this extremely talented harpist reached out about photographs with in the mountains with her harp, I was intrigued and a bit apprehensive. I mean, a harp is quite a large (and heavy!) instrument. I was trying to wrap my head around the logistical feasibility of transporting a harp, let alone shlepping it through the mountains! Suffice to say, with the help of her father as well, getting that big beautiful harp to our locations, while certainly not easy, was actually quite manageable! They’ve got transport of that instrument down to a science – I was quite impressed! And they were able to drive it up here in a Prius, no less!
She had contacted me from her home in Portland, wanting some dramatic outdoor photographs with her harp in the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up. Rather than the tradition studio or studio lighting headshots, she wanted the landscape to also play a significant role in the images. She had seen some of my images of couples and seniors in the mountains and liked that look. So that is what we did! With her harp! And it was amazing! The images are absolutely beautiful! She looked amazing and her harp looked incredible in the mountains. We even got to explore a lake at the end that has been on my list for a while now. We didn’t bring her harp all the way down to the shore because it was late and a bit too steep getting down, but captured a few more portraits of this incredible harpist in the last minutes of daylight, well after the sun had already disappeared behind the mountains.
Thank you for the absolutely amazing session! Seriously, I had an incredible time. And many thanks to your father as well for helping transport your harp! It is always fun to take on a new challenge – to try something new and different. Thank you for the opportunity to capture these images and enjoy a peek at a few of the many highlights here!
