For Stephanie and Andrew’s adventure engagement session, we had originally planned a hike in the Cascade mountains, climbing up to around 5000 feet. It was getting into November, but with a relatively mild October, there still wasn’t much snow up there. All that changed the week before their session! With several feet of new snow, we had to change our plans a bit! So instead, we opted for a more leisurely stroll along one of the ridge lines in the Wenatchee National Forest, east of the Cascade crest. With just a few gentle, rolling hills to traverse, this proved to be a good call, rather than trying to climb miles of steep terrain in deep snow with all of our stuff. It was awesome! The snow looked beautiful on the mixture of less densely packed evergreen trees east of the crest. And the larches – wow!!! Since it was mid-fall, they still had many of their golden needles that looked incredible covered in a layer of white! It was really quite a beautiful juxtaposition of seasons! And because of the rain shadow effect east of the crest, we even caught a few sun breaks too! With the sun shining and the snow falling, the atmosphere was magical!
And let me just say, Stephanie’s dress was amazing!!! She braved through the snow and a cold wind blowing through and we had some absolutely beautiful images of these two having fun in the snow! They actually were already married, but recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest. They love the mountains here and have been on quite a few hikes thus far, so finding a great location for them wasn’t hard at all, at least not until all the snow fell! We had quite an awesome time exploring the area and finding some great views along the way. We even saw some cross-country skiers coming back down the trail!
Thank you both for the awesome session! I had a great time with both of you! Enjoy a sneak peek at a few of the many highlights and have a wonderful holiday season!
