For the adventurous couple who wants to experience (and be photographed in) the rugged natural beauty of the Cascade Mountains, you really don’t have to go very far… Just a short drive from Seattle, and a plethora of gorgeous parks, trails, and mountain lakes await you. And if you’re willing to hike a little bit, well… the possibilities are just about endless.
Following the amazing photography session at Mystique Ranch, we headed into the mountains to North Bend for our final destination of the day, Rattlesnake Lake. Rain had been threatening and the forecast called for shower activity to move in towards the end of our shoot, but we lucked out with some beautifully moody skies and nary a drop to be found… 😉 Vivian & Chris rocked it once again as we took a few quick images around the lake and then had to hustle up to Rattlesnake Ledge before darkness set in. It’s a little less than 2 miles and about a 1200 foot climb to the ledge, with lots of jutting rocks and roots that mean you have to watch your footing pretty much all the time. We speed-hiked it and made it to the top in time to catch a brief sunset off to the NW and of course, some absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous images! Seriously, Rattlesnake Ledge was beyond incredible and so so worth the hike!

This is the view from Rattlesnake Ledge looking north, with North Bend and the Snoqualmie Valley below. A break in the clouds allowed the last bit of light from the setting Sun to cast some gorgeous colors out there.
