I met up with this lovely couple at the trailhead to Dirty Harry’s Balcony. Apparently, it was named after a logger with questionable repute, but the view and surrounding forest are certainly quite beautiful, and with the trailhead literally being about a 15 minute drive from my home, how could this not be high on the list of places to explore??!! The hike itself is about the same length as the hike up to Rattlesnake Ledge, but without the incessant crowds that plague Rattlesnake (yes, it is REALLY bad there – so bad that the trail to the Ledge is still closed due to crowds/COVID) and it offers a different view to the east, overlooking I-90 as it snakes its way further into the mountains towards the pass. This wasn’t a typical engagement session since these two are already married, but it was a celebration of some super exciting news – they are expecting their first baby next Spring! So we found the perfect little adventure for these two to celebrate their love for each other, their love of mountains here in the Pacific Northwest, and the start of their new family!

We took a few stops along the way up to capture some images of these two in the dense forest full of tall Douglass Fir trees, interspersed with moss-covered stumps, logs, and boulders. I love these forests and the prospect of finding cool, unexpected things along the way is one of the things that makes adventure sessions so much fun. I had a great time with these two, sharing stories and chatting the whole way up and back down the trail. They really are an incredibly nice couple and I think they are going to make wonderful parents! Congratulations Lindsey and Alex!
