In a Punjabi Indian wedding, starting a few days before the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom will each have a maiyan ceremony in which relatives and friends smear turmeric paste all over their arms legs, and face. The maiyan is a cleansing ceremony to ensure the well-being of the bride and groom to be. One thing I’ve noticed over the years photographing Punjabi Indian weddings: there’s no need to apply sparingly! 😉 This is always a fun event to capture because everyone really gets into the fun of smearing it all over the bride and groom. And Dinesh’s maiyan ceremony was certainly no exception here! By the end, he was covered pretty much head to toe! I loved the colors and celebratory atmosphere!
More to come soon from Parveen & Dinesh’s wedding events. Next up, the Jago!
