North Bend Maternity & Family Photographer | James Thomas Long Photography | Laura & Jason

I met up with Laura & Jason for their maternity photography session on a very pleasant early Spring day. I love early Spring, when everything is fresh and new, and far from overgrown. The trees were blossoming and the huckleberry bushes in the forest are sprouting leaves. By late May, they’ll be sprouting tons of yummy, slightly tart berries. I grew up on huckleberries – they’re literally everywhere around here.

It seems fitting – welcoming a new baby into the world just as new life begins to sprout and flourish all around, sparked by the onset of Spring. The trees in the Pacific Northwest are absolutely beautiful – surpassed by none that I’ve seen anywhere else in the world. Endless forests of Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock, and others that run on for miles and miles, an endless carpet of green, punctuated by mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes… The natural beauty here is breathtaking, to say the least. And one need not go far at all to find it, especially here in the Snoqualmie Valley.

We decided to visit a beautiful park nearby in North Bend and had a great time enjoying the early Spring landscape, hearing the sound of the nearby Snoqualmie river, and playing with their two dogs, Niko and Rosie. With her baby’s due date a little over a moth away, Laura was able to get around quite well out there, so we explored a few of the nearby trails through the trees. I loved photographing these two spending time together in anticipation of their new arrival. They are such a sweet couple!

Congratulations Laura & Jason! I had a wonderful time with both of you and your dogs! 🙂
