I got the chance to visit Mount Rainier recently for a maternity session. Before I post a sneak peek of the absolutely amazing session, I just had to post a few snaps of the Mountain. This is without a doubt the most beautiful natural setting I have ever had the opportunity to photograph. At 14,411 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier literally towers over everything else around it. Words really don’t do justice to just how awe inspiring it is – absolutely gorgeous!
Mountains, pine trees, snow… I’m in heaven here and I can’t wait for more mountain adventure sessions here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest! And if Mount Rainier beckons you as well, wildflower season is just another month or two away…! There is hardly a more spectacular place for an engagement session, maternity, or family session. Book your session for August’s wildflower season now! And don’t forget, Sunrise and the North side of Mount Rainier will be opening soon this summer!
Below, Mount Rainer covered with a windswept halo of clouds on June 1.Below is the view of the South side of Mount Rainier from the Nisqually River. The Nisqually River can get pretty wide in the Spring as the snow begins to melt from the snowiest place in the entire US. Paradise Ranger Station at just over 5000 feet elevation records an average of 671 inches of the white stuff a year (some years they get over 1000 inches)! To a snow lover like me, that definitely sounds like paradise. 🙂 I remember as a kid, heading up with my Boy Scout troop to Paradise Mount Rainier and building (and sleeping in) snow caves! It was awesome!
Paradise is still buried in several feet of snow, so for our session, we stayed at lower elevations near Longmire. A sneak peek of this absolutely gorgeous maternity session is coming soon!
