The day before her wedding, a Punjabi bride has her Maiya ceremony. During the Maiya, the bride’s family applies turmeric paste and then yogurt over her arms, feet, and face. This is done as a blessing to give her glowing skin for her wedding day. Then, the bride gets cleaned up and returns for her Choora ceremony, where she receives her wedding bangles.

It was touching to see everyone come up and bless the bride. Many had traveled from far away places to support Manpreet and it was wonderful to see everyone partake and be involved.
