When it comes to engagement sessions, I love an adventure, especially if that adventure entails hiking into the Cascade mountains. And so when Kai and Shruti told me they wanted to ascend into the sub-alpine territory for their engagement session, I was super excited! We were able to take advantage of a very warm and dry fall here in the Pacific Northwest to hike into some of the higher terrain that would normally be buried under feet of snow by mid-November. After a scenic drive through the mountains, culminating with a rather harrowing pothole-infested dirt road for the last 12 miles, we arrived at the trailhead. From there, it was a 2.5 mile hike that steadily climbed up another 1500 feet to our final destination, a gorgeous lake near the edge of the alpine lakes wilderness, decorated with some newly fallen snow. The clouds that had rolled in created a soft, dreamy, romantic kind of look… And we never saw another human the entire time we were there – literally the only other sounds we heard were the drips of water and snow from branches!

Kai and Shruti looked amazing! I loved Shruti’s blue dress and Kai’s suit was the perfect complement! Shruti braved a pretty chilly light rain that was off and on and together we created breathtakingly romantic images of these two celebrating their love for each other in the Cascade Mountain wilderness, surrounded by snow, trees, mountains, and all lovingly wrapped in the soft, gray embrace of the clouds… It was beautifully dramatic!
