I’m super excited to show a few more from this absolutely gorgeous adventure elopement at Crystal Mountain! What an incredible evening! I wish time could have just stood still and we could have kept on shooting… so much to explore there! Bright sunny days pose considerable challenges when shooting up in the mountains, but these two enjoyed the unseasonably warm day and rocked their post-wedding photoshoot up there!
Hiking down, we found ourselves immersed in spectacular, lush fields of wildflowers and with the sun dipping lower in the horizon, the light was getting gorgeous too! I don’t think I’ve ever seen wildflowers like that in person. We were simply in awe – it was like something out of a fairy tale, too beautiful to be real. But there they were…! Continuing our descent into thicker forests and sweeping meadows, we encountered some of the local inhabitants, including a cute little marmot who kept poking his head out of his hole to check on us.
Our fairy-tale outing had but one hitch… As we approached some absolutely beautiful enchanting lush alpine forests, lakes and meadows for our final shots of the day, we were literally accosted by thousands of mosquitos. I kid you not – they were on us! We must have been the only sufficiently large meal for them for miles… And at high elevations like that, it is still spring-like, even into August, so perfect conditions for mosquito blooms, especially on north-facing slopes and when the air is fairly still. Suffice to say, we only got one or two shots off before those mosquitos sent us packing down the trail! Once past the lake area, the mosquito populations diminished and we completed our adventure without further hitch.
Congratulations again to Laura & Kevin! You both are absolutely amazing!!!
Where exactly did you shoot at crystal mountain? Was there a specific trail you went on?! Love all those photos! I’m trying to find a spot like that for an engagement shoot!
