Rain was coming they said. Lots of it. The wind was picking up and the sky looked ominous – like it was about to unleash at any moment, expunging water in torrents. But for this lovely couple getting married at the beautiful Heyday Farm on Bainbridge Island, it held off long enough for us to get out to the beach and capture some beautiful images of the couple before their ceremony. It wasn’t always easy with the wind whipping everything, including her hair and dress. Plus, we literally thought every minute would be our last before the rain came in ernest. But it didn’t. And the wind created incredible movement in her dress that made it all the more beautifully dramatic.
Heyday Farm is a beautiful little oasis on Bainbridge Island full of bright, colorful flowers, a rustic barn house, and a lovely historic cottage. With the rain starting to steadily fall, the ceremony was moved to the barn house loft. There, with the doors open to let in some dramatic backlight, these two were married in front of family and friends in a beautiful ceremony, sharing it with their daughters who were standing to the side of each of them. Then, the celebrations began with cocktails and finally a delicious dinner (prepared by Heyday Farm) and toasts under the tent as the rain sprinkled down all around.
Congratulations you two and thank you for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful wedding! It was so great to meet you and your lovely families! Enjoy a peak at a few of the many highlights and I wish you all the best as you begin your new lives together as husband and wife!
