There’s a reason why the Columbia River Gorge is a destination for sailboarding and it’s got 4 letters… If you’ve ever been there, you’ll have experienced the “wind tunnel” feeling you get as the wind whips through the valley. And perched on a bluff overlooking the Columbia, the Griffin House is easily the windiest place I’ve ever photographed a wedding. But it’s location also makes it among the most beautiful wedding venues you’ll ever see as well. And so it was on a warm, sunny, and very windy day that these two were married in a beautiful Jewish ceremony in front of family and friends at the lovely Griffin House in Hood River, OR.
These two love the outdoors and adventure, so for their engagement session last summer, we hiked a ways up Mount Rainier for some incredible views. The Paradise Ranger station set a heat record that day, but we made it up to our destination, cooling off with a bit of old snow we found up there. I’m glad there were not any heat records on their wedding day and despite the strong winds, their chupah held up the entire time!
Her dress was absolutely gorgeous and they both looked incredible! Since these two work at Nike, they and their two boys sported some classic Jordan’s. complete with their wedding colors, which was a super fun touch! And when the band played Hava Nagila, they were hoisted up on chairs and the celebration began! And what a dance party it was!!! The band played all of the couple’s classic favorites and the dancing continued well into the night.
