It was a chilly spring afternoon when I arrived at the beautiful Salish Lodge to photograph Emily and Jeff’s intimate COVID wedding. Lingering showers that morning had left a surprise wedding gift in the form of a light blanket of snow! And as I made my way through the slush-covered walkway towards the Salish Lodge, I could hear the ceaseless roar of the falls, an ever-changing yet always beautiful reminder that I am so lucky to be able to call Snoqualmie my home. I love it here and I’ll never tire of gazing upon the torrents of water rushing down, flanked on either side by moss-covered cliffs and rimmed by an endless see of evergreen trees. It is no small wonder at all that the Salish Lodge perched above Snoqualmie Falls is a popular wedding destination as a beautiful Pacific Northwest scenic location. And if you’re a Twin Peaks fan, bonus!
For Emily and Jeff’s wedding, we actually got to complete our Snoqualmie Falls tour! We had visited the lower falls a few weeks prior for their engagement session, so this time, we enjoyed the views from above around the Salish Lodge. I started with Jeff and the guys getting ready. They’re all avid roll-playing gamers, which is super cool, especially since they brought dice! It never takes long for the guys to get ready (unless of course, bow ties are involved, but that was not the case here!), so after they got ready and we got some fun shots in, I left them to their Suntory Whiskey and headed over to where Emily was getting ready. She had a beautiful flowey gown with lovely floral embroidery. They both looked amazing and I loved capturing the excitement that these two had! You could see it in their eyes and their expressions overall. They were just happy to be getting married that day! And you could tell that all of their guests were incredibly glad to be able to share this with them. It wasn’t long ago that weddings of any sort were not allowed and it has been a challenging year+ for all of us, but one of the things I’ve noticed of late is how truly grateful couples are for the opportunity to share in these moments with close family and friends. From getting ready, their first look, ceremony, and their reception afterwards, seeing (and capturing) Emily and Jeff celebrating with those closest to them was truly a joy to behold. As you’ll see, especially in the next post with their ceremony and reception, there were so many touching moments!
Congratulations Emily and Jeff! I had a great time with you and I’m so honored to have been your wedding photographer! Enjoy your first sneak peek at a few of the many highlights – more to come soon!
