Brandy and Ike’s adventure engagement photography session in the Cascade Mountains was absolutely incredible! I remember when we were brainstorming possible locations and we wanted to find something spectacular but relatively close to Index, where they were having an intimate wedding ceremony the following day. We also didn’t want these two being utterly exhausted the next day from a long, strenuous hike, so we ended up choosing this lake, a place none of us had been to, but based on image and map data, looked quite promising. Suffice to say, it did not disappoint! I LOVE going to new places I’ve never been for photographs! I have found that exploration and the thrill of new discoveries play a big role in fueling my own creativity as a photographer and I’m so glad Brandy and Ike were willing to give this amazing place a try with me! And the fact that it was just a 5 mile round trip and not a ton of climb was absolutely perfect! We actually found so many beautiful spots along the way, including at the trailhead where a moss-covered forest made for an enchanting look. I am so in love with the forests here! Nowhere else in this country do you get such incredible, lush temperate forests, interspersed with mountains, rocky peaks, rivers that flow all year long, and lakes practically peaking around every corner. It’s times like this that I feel truly blessed to live here.

We got up to the lake and once again, it felt like going to Disneyland as a kid. There were endless photographic possibilities – the only real challenge was deciding which one to do first, and then next…! And that, is the magic of going to a place you’ve never been before. 🙂 I loved Brandy’s vintage-inspired red dress and Ike’s vest and blues complemented here well. And let me just say, these two are amazing dancers! In fact, that is how they met! You’ll see a few images of them dancing on a big boulder as you scroll through! And they really do make such a lovely couple. After spending the afternoon with them, I’m more than convinced that they are absolutely perfect for each other!
