I’m excited to show a sneak peek from this recent winter family photography session at Farrel McWhirter Farm park in Redmond. I always enjoy an excuse to take the scenic back roads from Snoqualmie to Redmond – I even got to drive by where I went to elementary and junior high school on the way! I have tons of fond memories of Farrel McWhirter park, from Little League picnics and outdoor day camp, to running through the trails there in high school along with countless hours at our favorite sledding hill nearby during snow days. Sure, some of it has changed, but by and large, it’s still the same beautiful park it was, full of trails through thick forests, a beautiful creek running through the woods, open fields, and barns full of animals too. With so much to offer, it was high on my list of places to revisit for family photography sessions!

And it certainly didn’t disappoint! I met up with this absolutely wonderful family of four for their session on a cool late January day (one weekend before the snow hit) and we had a great time exploring some of the trails and “fishing” in the creek as well! 😉 I loved capturing the the beautiful connections in this family – the soft kisses Mom gave her babies and the way big sister held her little sister’s hand and leaned in for a kiss. Super super cute! We lucked out with some sunny weather, with the gorgeous light filtering through the tall trees…

Winter is a beautiful season here in the Pacific Northwest. It is my favorite season of all by far. It is that time of year when the sun remains low on the horizon and the light is beautiful any time of day. Since all of the deciduous trees have lost their leaves, winter is that time of year when my favorites, the pine trees – Douglas fir, Spruce, Cedar… really come to the forefront, creating a dramatic Pacific Northwest look. And perhaps best of all, since winter is the least busy season, I have some openings if you’d like to book a winter photography session for your family!Seriously beautiful!There’s that gorgeous light coming through the deciduous trees – this is only possible in the winter when the leaves are gone!!!I love all the green, the moss… the perfect place for a Mother and daughter stroll – just beautiful!
