There’s hardly anything more beautiful in life than seeing the connections between parents and their little ones. Capturing those wonderful bonds in a single frame – it’s pure magic. The idea that one image can convey so much – joy, comfort, curiosity, love, and more… it gets me every time! It’s so much more than just good lighting, a nice pose, and nice smiles – that’s what you’ll get at the mall… if you’re lucky…;-) A great portrait should touch your soul. It should express those wonderful things about family that you couldn’t possibly put to words.

Today’s post features a lovely family that I’ve gotten the opportunity to photograph a few times before – once for their maternity session, then when their daughter was just a newborn, and now that she’s a little over a year old. It always amazes me how much they change in those first few years! She’s quite the runner now! Set her down and she’ll take off exploring and I had to be quick to try and keep up with her, let alone stay a step or two ahead…! But the images are just beautiful! It reminds me of why I can’t imagine doing anything else for a living. Instead of wearing a suit and tie, I leave the session with grass-stained jeans and grimy elbows, feeling like I’ve run several miles chasing after little ones… but it’s totally worth it! And it’s so much fun that the time flies by!
