I met up with this lovely family of 4 at Mount Rainier for their family photography session. They had travelled all the way from Texas to the Pacific Northwest and were spending a few days at Mount Rainier. While some fog and clouds obscured our view of the mountain, we did get to see quite a bit of wildlife up close and personal. We saw multiple deer grazing in the meadows and also happened upon multiple bears too! The first bear we nearly walked right into literally just beyond the Visitor Center and steps (it was just off the trail hidden from us by some vegetation), but for a group of people waving back at us a little farther up the trail. We ended up skirting around the bear on a different trail and ended up seeing more deer on the way to our destination. Then, on the way back, not far from where we saw the first bear, there was a group of people stopped where two bears were hanging out right next to the trail, also quite close to the Visitor Center and Lodge. The bears were unphased by any of us and did not seem to care at all that we were making noise, hoping for them to move along away from the trail so we could all get back. Just when we were about to resign to about a mile detour to go around, the bears finally moved along to the sounds of cheers from the expanding crowd waiting to pass through. Quite an experience for sure! And we did get some pretty cool photographs as well, despite the fog that rolled in just when the light would have gotten good. These two brothers are quite the pair and we had some pretty fun moments! They didn’t seem scared of the bears at all, either!
